What is heating cutter?
The heating cutter is a professional-grade hot cutting tool for foamed plastics. The Hot Knife heats
up in seconds and gives the operator temperature control. Never before has working with foamed
plastics been this easy, inexpensive and free of mess.
A heat cutter is normally a hand-held tool with a handle and heated blade. Most hot knives are
designed for cutting EPS foam (Styrofoam), or a similar type of insulating foam.
Select a hot knife blade corresponding to the cutting use .
The selected cutting blade should not be longer than 3/4” past the thickness of your foam board.
The foam cools the blade as it cuts. The exposed portion can overheat and cause your blade to warp.
The blade heat on a hot knife is generated from either a transformer or an electrical circuit board.
A quality hot knife can be manufactured using both technologies. One key to a quality hot knife is
the interchangeable blade. A good quality hot knife blade should be thin and have a sharpened edge
on the cutting side.
What can it do?
The foam cutter/grooving cutter is for cutting different density foam , with fine cutting edge
, no mess. Cutting with the groover- sled, it is easy to make different groove shape
on the foam.
Cut the rope . and the webbing, with fine cutting edge, no disperse. Attached
with the cutting foot, the hot knife cut the synthetic fiber colth without backup under the cloth,
seal the cutting edge as well; cut the seal line on the bag. Especially good for cutting sail cloth,
awnings and filter cloth.
Tips:
For the best results, practice on scrap pieces of foam.
When cutting foam it is best to keep the temperature and speed consistent. If smoke develops during the cut,
you are cutting too slow or the blade is too hot which could result in an oversized, uneven cut. This can be
remedied by lowering the temperature and intermittently releasing the trigger during your cut. As the cutting
resistance increases, depress the trigger again. The Hot Knife will reach the set temperature within seconds.
You can accomplish your cut with minimal smoke using this process. Cutting in this manner will also prolong the
life of the knife.
Releasing the trigger approximately one or tow inches prior to the completion of the cut will help keep the blade clean and free from buildup
