The axle load of SDD21 diesel engine is 22.5t. It equipped with 12V280ZJ diesel engine with electronic fuel injection control system, AC auxiliary electric transmission system, CDJF204E main alternator with brushless excitation, ZD109E traction motor, U tube bogie with three axels. It has performance of double heading in consist. It is a AC-DC transmission mainline freight diesel locomotive, which adopts complete microcomputer logic control technology and resistance braking system with the performance of self-load test at full power.
This locomotive is of small clearance. It is applicable to railway built as per UIC505-1 standard clearance. On consideration of the maintenance area, the locomotive adopts modularized design, manufacture and assembly, which is convenient to components maintenance and locomotive assembly. It adopts complete microcomputer logic control technology, complete constant traction power control, anti-slip and anti-slide protection. The auxiliary system is AC transmission, added a JQJF480 AC auxiliary alternator, supplying power to cooling fan motor and ventilator motor. The lubrication oil system is equipped with self-cleaning filter, compared with paper filter, it reduces the time of filter daily maintenance and improves the grade and efficiency of filter.
